ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE
The Associate in Arts Degree is the legally recognized transfer degree for the Florida Community College System, and is specifically designed for the student who wishes to transfer into the Florida University System as a university junior. The A.A. degree requires a minimum of 60 college-level credit hours, which includes at least 36 credit hours in general education and up to 24 hours of electives.>>

ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE DEGREES
These programs are two-year college credit programs for students who are planning to enter a chosen career at the semi-professional level upon completion of the course of study listed in this section of the catalog. The A.S. degree and A.A.S. degree programs encompass courses in two basic areas. General education courses are designed to help develop a well-rounded individual and enhance employment potential. >>

ADULT EDUCATION/GED EXAM
St. Johns River Community College offers adult education classes for students who wish to improve their basic educational skills and/or prepare to earn a Florida High School Diploma through the General Educational Development (G.E.D.) program. >>

St. Johns River Community College offers several apprenticeship programs in the construction and building trades. Apprenticeship is a training method that combines paid work experience with classroom related instruction. >>

BACCALAUREATE AND GRADUATE DEGREE OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH SJRCC
SJRCC has created partnerships with four-year colleges and offers the degree programs through our college campuses. The college may provide space and other support for the partner institution to offer baccalaureate-level courses. >>

CHILD CARE TRAINING
Child care training is an essential component of commercial child care licensing. The goal of the training program is to provide child care personnel with the tools necessary to ensure quality care in our state's child care programs. To accomplish this task the Department of Children and Families mandates minimum introductory training requirements along with annual continuing education for professional development. The residential child care training program prepares students for employment as family home child care providers. It meets or exceeds the Department of Children and Families mandated minimum introductory training requirements. >>

CONTINUING EDUCATION
Continuing Education extends the college into the community through a variety of non-credit training programs that reach beyond the traditional offerings of the college. In addition, continuing education programs are designed to provide training opportunities for individuals wanting to upgrade job skills, explore new career fields or just have fun! >>

ONLINE COURSES (Distance Learning)
Selected courses are offered on the Internet.
Online courses offer students an opportunity to take classes that fit their schedule and learning style. SJRCC's online courses rarely require you to come to campus. The only time you need to come to campus is to register and buy your books. >>

DUAL ENROLLMENT
Dual Enrollment provides accelerated high school seniors and eligible juniors the opportunity to simultaneously earn college credit while earning credit toward a high school diploma. Public and private high school students as well as home-schooled students are served by this program that was created by Florida Statute 1007.271 and is governed by state law. AND IT'S FREE! >>

COLLEGE CREDIT CERTIFICATES
The College Credit Certificate are college credit programs designed to prepare students for immediate entry into a career in the workforce. These programs are one year in length and are an intermediate step toward an Associate in Science degree in a particular area of study. A College Credit Certificate consists primarily of specialized courses in a specific career area. >>

VOCATIONAL CERTIFICATES (PSAV)
Post Secondary Job Training (PSAV) programs prepare students for entry into a given career or vocation. Each of these programs prepares students for a specific occupation or one of a cluster of related occupations. Vocational credit is awarded upon completion. >>

TEACHER CERTIFICATION
The Educator Preparation Institute (EPI) is established to provide four types of educator preparation:
Professional development instruction to assist in-service teachers in improving classroom instruction and in meeting certification and recertification requirements
Instruction to assist potential and existing substitute teachers in performing their duties
Instruction to assist paraprofessionals in meeting education and training requirements
Instruction for baccalaureate degree holders to become certified teachers through competency-based alternative certification programs >>

This is a series of programs designed to fulfull the educational needs of the community.
