Spring graduates receive UF scholarships

Congratulations to recent SJRCC graduates Rebecca Carmody and Karen Mallinson for each receiving a Community College Transfer Academic Scholarship from the University of Florida. Selection criteria for the scholarship included having a 3.80 GPA or higher, completion of the A.A. degree, a letter of support from an academic advisor or professor, and proof of admission to UF. Participation in activities such as the Brain Bowl, Phi Theta Kappa and the All Florida Academic Team, as well as the applicants' academic and career goals, were also considered.

Carmody received one of only two full-tuition scholarships UF awarded to in-state community college transfer students this fall. The full-tuition scholarship is available only to students who were selected for the All Florida Academic "A" Team. Carmody also received the Florida High Tech Corridor Scholarship, the C. L. Overturf and Hogan Scholarship, and the Dr. Gary B. Lott Memorial Scholarship.

Mallinson received a $1,000 scholarship which is awarded to community college transfer students admitted to UF each fall.
