SJRCC Orange Park Campus kicks off 50th Anniversary Celebration

Students, faculty and staff gathered February 25 at the Orange Park Campus to kick off the college's 50th Anniversary Celebration.

Approximately 200 guests gathered to participate in the event sponsored by the Student Government Association. With the help of student activities coordinator John "Coach K" Kirkpatrick and SGA sponsor Kristen Wolfe students were treated to a morning of history, free anniversary T-shirts and birthday cake.

Provost Dr. Bill Simmons welcomed faculty and students to the event and gave guests a humorous description of the College's history.

Included in the celebration and in honor of Black History Month was a soul food luncheon sponsored by the student activities office. Winners of the Black History Month essay contest were also announced by Orange Park administrative assistant Monica Dubrey.

A blood drive sponsored by the Orange Park Campus PTK honor society was also included in the event's activities.
