Course
Objective: To
provide students with a thorough understanding of the anatomy of the human integumentary,
skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine systems, as well as the human body
somatic and special senses through the use of hands-on laboratory activities.
Textbook: Human Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory
Manual, 8th
Edition; Elaine N. Marieb
Attendance: To successfully complete
this course, regular class attendance is necessary. Being present and on time is the
responsibility of each student. Students missing one lab will be warned via the
Records Office. Additional unexcused
absences may result in a grade of "W."
Tardiness: Students not in class when
the roll is checked will be marked absent.
Students entering the class after the roll is taken must obtain a
"Tardy Explanation Form" from the designated folder, complete the
requested information, and return the form to the instructor at the end of
class. The absence will then be
changed to an excused or unexcused tardy. Two unexcused tardies during the term
will be equivalent to one absence.
Academic
Integrity: Students in this class must
know, observe, and not compromise the principles of academic integrity. It is not permissible to cheat, to fabricate
or falsify information, to submit the same academic work in more than one
course without prior permission, to plagiarize, to receive unfair advantage, or
to otherwise abuse accepted practices for handling and documenting
information. The grade for this course
includes the judgment that the student's work is free from academic dishonesty
of any type. Violations or infractions
will be reported to the Vice President for Student Affairs and may lead to
failure of the course and other sanctions imposed by the College.
Grading: Grades are determined by
combining scores on both lecture exams and lab quizzes as indicated below:
ุ There will be six lecture
exams administered during the term. Students absent from class during an exam
must provide the instructor with appropriate documentation in order for the
absence to be excused and the missed exam to be made up during the instructor's
office hours.
ุ Seven laboratory quizzes will be
administered during the term. One lab quiz grade may be dropped. Lab quizzes that are missed may not be
made up. A missed lab quiz will be
treated as the lab quiz grade to be dropped.
Final Grade: Lecture
Exam Average is Equal to 75% of the Course Grade
Lab
Quiz Average is Equivalent to 22% of the
Course Grade
Class
Participation and Attendance is equal to 1% - 3% of the Course Grade
Grading
Scale: A = 100%
- 90%
B
= 89% - 80%
C
= 79% - 70%
D
= 69% - 60%
F
= Below 60%
