St. Johns River Community College was established in 1958 as a public institution serving Putnam, Clay and St. Johns counties. Classes began in Palatka during the fall of 1958 with 191 students. Today the College serves approximately 10,000 students with campuses in Palatka, Orange Park and St. Augustine. MORE HISTORY

College Philosophy
The community college is a unique American 21st century institutional contribution to education. Its philosophy is based on recognition of the ever-changing society. A further philosophical basis is the belief that there is a need in a democracy for all people to be educated to the limits of their abilities in order to reach their maximum potential for service to self and to society.

The College reserves the right to change any of its policies, courses, regulations, and calendar of events without notice when it is considered in the best interest of the College. In the event such changes occur, the College will provide notification to students, faculty, and staff via announcements on bulletin boards and in College publications.
All students are responsible for observing all regulations and being aware of the information in the College Catalog, Student Handbook, official announcements posted on bulletin boards, and other applicable documents such as registration forms. College regulations and student standards of conduct, as listed under "Student Rights and Responsibilities", apply to all areas under the jurisdiction of St. Johns River Community College including areas where activities are sponsored by the college and areas where students of the college community are guests. As guests, students will make themselves familiar with any additional regulation of the host institution.
